I was going to feed Riley raw when I first got her, but I decided I was not prepared for it just yet. I personally don't feel ready enough to feed it and I worry about me being fully responsible for what goes in her body, I just wasn't ready.. prepared raw diets are too expensive for me right now. But I will definitely be feeding raw in the future when I research it more, and have the time as well.
I feed her Orijen right now, which is about as close to a raw diet as I can get in a kibble.. at least that's what I believe. It's a GREAT food, rated #1 for 2 years in a row now, but it is quite pricey.. averaging $3/lb depending on the flavor (that's where I live at least). Her coat is soft, shiny, and she loves it. Yep! That's exactly the idea :] Clubs like the AKC, CKC, etc all have standards for their accepted breeds, and people show their dogs against others in the breed, group, and eventually compete for best in show.. the main idea is that judges all check them out to see how well they conform to the breed standard. I definitely plan on getting 2 or more tollers later on in the future. I have 2 dogs now (1 toller and a JRT) and after only having one for years, it was a big adjustment for me, mainly with how to handle them on walks and out in public!
